Had this product and it’s been working great so far. The key was to push it down 3 or 4 inches into my drain. We have a ton of water flow that I had to slow down just a tad with our adjustable shower head, but then boom, no backups. Also, our shower had a very bad smell. Probably somebody in the past installed it without a p-trap. This product removed the bad smell! I’m hoping it continues to work well for the long haul with regular cleanings.
I have a drain that backs up and floods our hvac/water heater closet whenever we run our laundry machine, due to improperly installed plumbing, and this helped fix the issue. I have a feeling this is just a temporary fix, but compared to the thousands of dollars I would need to break concrete and properly install new plumbing, I’ll take it. I did a test run and it all kept the water down. It did look like a tiny bit of water broke through the seal, but nothing came out of the drain. The little bit that did break through went back down the drain, and presumably helped keep any additional water from coming up. If it ends up lasting a while, I will gladly buy another one when it fails/as a precautionary measure for when we do fix the plumbing.
This product was easy to install and solved the sewage smell problem in my basement bathroom immediately. It has now been 3 weeks with no smell whatsoever. Exceeded my expectations.
Product was as described, easy to install. delivered on time. will have to wait and see how it holds up.
No longer have a musty smelling stand up shower in the basement. With improper plumbing we were getting some foul odors in the shower. This little device has saved us a ton of money at least until we can correct the plumbing problem. Have this in a street 90 with no issue draining.
My old house has a shower with no p trap. It started stinking, and this fixed it. As other reviewers recommended, I pushed mine down into the drain a few inches to help the water push its way through. It does fill the floor up a little but that’s way better than the smell!
I installed these in my basement and garage floor drains to block sewer gas from seeping into house, and they work great. You need to push it about 1 inch below rim of drain to allow water to drain. Worth the price.
Had problem with odors and gnats from our shower drain. Once I placed this in the drain all the smells and gnats were gone! It was simple to insert in the drain.
Got the product today. The 2″ version fit perfectly inside of 2″ PVC pipe. It drains well. I installed it 2″ below the floor surface, pushing it down with the end of a caulk tube. I was a little worried I might push it too far and it would fall out of reach. To prevent this I cut a slice of the same 2″ PCV pipe, about 1/4″ long, giving me a ring. I cut about 3/4″ out of that ring, so I could spring it together and fit it inside my 2″ drain. I pushed it to a depth I wanted, 5″ in my case. I then used a small wooden stick (think chopstick) to drizzle a bead of PVC cement to glue it in place. When mounting the valve, I pushed it to a depth that was about 1/4″ above my ring. I used a tiny amount of silicone grease. I will see how they function over time, but they look like quality items. I installed three of them.
