Product still holding up
Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2021

I waited for quite awhile to write a review to make sure the product is still holding up. Its been almost 16 months and still going strong. I purchased this because during a recent bathroom remodel I did not have enough space to install a drain trap when I plumbed in a new shower pan. This guy did the trick to keep sewer gasses from filling the room. It more than keeps up with the flow from the shower. As others have said, you must get this shoved a good ways (3 inches or more) into the pipe so that the weight of the water will open the valve at the bottom. I have had to clean it twice since installation for hair clogs but once reinstalled it works as new. Don’t hesitate to buy if what you need it for is a shower drain.

It works great, but is way overpriced for what it is
Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021

I have a basement drain without a p-trap and there’s no way to add one (it’s in a slab). I’ve suffered with sewage smells for quite some time, until I found this product. It works wonders keeping the smell out of my basement, and while drainage is slower, it’s still usable as a drain. Yes, I know you’re not supposed to use in place of a p-trap, but I have no choice. For a piece of plastic with some silicone rings, this is insanely expensive. At the same time, it works great and I wish I had known about it a while ago.

This works!

I bought two of these. One 2″ and one 3″. The two inch one fit perfectly and has completely stopped the sewer smell from backing into our basement. The 3″ one is slightly too big for our shower drain and will need modification. It was the basement drain that was the biggest problem and it fixed that perfectly.

Works great

Works perfectly for what I need. I have a floor drain that doesn’t have a P trap and it constantly let up sewer gas. This has completely stopped that problem and still lets water down when we need it to.

Great solution

I have floor drains that never get any use. After awhile water would evaporate inside the trap and let odor in. Instead of pouring water down every so often or plugging up the trap, this device just simply pushes down in drain opening to install. Once installed it still allows water to drain if needed and blocks odor if trap dries up.

Good Fix for Sewer Gas Issues
Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2021

These drains; while expensive; do what they say they do; they effectively stop sewer gas. Simple installation is a relative term; being in Mexico we had to chip away concrete from a sloppily made shower floor drain opening to be even able to measure the drain pipe size, prior to ordering. Proper pipe size inside diameter (ID) measurement is critical before ordering, be sure to review the green drain sizing outside diameter fitment range for each unit you might want to order. Installed another 4″ green drain; had to modify the receiving pipe; by the removal of a PVC lip, which took 1/2 hour to achieve in a limited access location. When the pipe was finally prepared; installation was actually quite simple, took about a minute. Again; proper pipe ID measurement prior to ordering was key to a successful installation. The friend has said that it works very well; her decade old sewer gas issue is resolved. I have heard that the silicone seal is easily distorted by bleach; so careful use of cleaning products will be necessary to ensure longevity of the seal. For this reason; maybe consider buying two; and keeping one on hand as a spare. I quite like the green drains; slick solution in the proper application.

Saved us thousands
Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021

We finished our basement and our shower drain in the basement didn’t have a water trap so we were getting terrible sewer gas smells. Instead of spending thousands to rip up the foundation cement, we added this to the shower drain. It has worked great no smell coming out & the water isn’t backing up either. Fits the drain perfectly.

Worked like a charm

A lot of cold air, swamp smell, and bugs were coming in through our basement drain (even after attempting to fill the drain with water). Popped this in and it prevented any cold air, smell or bugs from entering the house. Needed the water to still be able to escape because I have a Dehumidifier that empties into that drain. And this works perfectly to still allow that.

Green Drain 4 in. Waterless Trap Seal-69040
Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2020

I just bought 6 more of these for a second house. I installed 3 in my other house 3 years ago, so this review is a long-term review. These are a great product that do what they are advertised to do. They prevent air and fumes from escaping your drains. These completely changed my basement which stunk of rotten drains and had flies. These corrected my problems 100%. After 3 years they have collected lots of dirt and particles. I tend to pour clean water down them on a regular basis to keep the seal clean. One of them is in the drain that my AC drips into. This seal tends to get some sort of ooze growing on it, and I always question if it is still sealing correctly, thinking the ooze might hold the seal open. I clean this one by hand with rubber gloves to make sure it seals. So far so good after 3 years of use. Hot Tips: Put Vaseline on the outer rings of the seal body, so it will slide into the pipe easier. Also makes it 50x easier to remove it if you have to. When removing, do not pull on the plastic crossbar. Instead, reach your fingers through the seal and pull the main body from underneath (hands back to back with fingertips pointed toward pipe wall).

awesome product

I wish I knew about this thing 5 years ago. I’ve been living with a shower drain with no p-trap and no easy access to install one for 5 years. This slid into the drain easily and has been installed for a couple weeks now. No more sewer gas smell and no more having to cover the drain after every use. Totally worth the money. Time will tell how long it lasts but I have a feeling it will hold up. I put it about 3 inches down the drain pipe and don’t have any problems with water pooling in the shower, still drains fine.
